Gavin Davis Saturday Footy

Wednesday 1st October, 2008 - by The Spirit of Alan Ball's cat
CLOSED until Summer 09

10 "INS" by Saturday 12:30 and it's game on, less it's game off.....

Sign up using the Saturday link to the right. It's now dedicated to a former regular, Gavin Davis, who sadly is no longer with us.
  • It's free. Why? Because Syngenta, for whom Daryl works, have covered the cost of the pitch

  • There's a link on the right through which people can sign-up. That way, we'll have an idea of who's coming.

Location? Tram number 6 to Zoo, turn left, walk down the hill and it's the pitch on the left, by the FIFA entrance.

Weekend football

Wednesday 31st October, 2007 - by Colin Tivendale

Sunday 6th April - GAME OFF - Not enough players

Footylist should now tradtionally switch to Tuesday/Thursday evenings at 18:30.

We will have this up and running on Tuesday 15th April, please check back before then if you are interesting in playing.

Location is (as always) the astroturf at Brunau, check the links to the right if you have any questions.

No need for existing Footylist members to re-register, would be nice if those new to the community did.

Goals (7s and 11s), ball, etc will all be available.

Every Cloud Has A Silver Lining.....

Wednesday 10th October, 2007 - by Colin Tivendale

Fellas,

Apologies if the attendance towards the end of summer suffered due to the FC Hard project but fear not, we are in discussions with a few parties (one major one which could be very exciting indeed) about a co-operation which should make for a pretty exciting March-October 2008 (possibly even the prospect of winter football in 2008 too!) so stay tuned, stay interested and keep spreading the word, the more interest we have the better placed we are to maintain and build the Footylist community.

Anyone keen to help us take Footylist to the next level (whatever that may be!) contact us on the links to the right.

Colin

PS - The Reds mentioned below are, of course, the mighty Man Utd, just in case anyone was confused by that.

Monday / Wednesday Games?

Monday 13th August, 2007 - by Colin Tivendale

Would there be any interest in a Monday and/or Wednesday game, at the same time/venue as the current Tuesday/Thursday setup?

Thinking that with the FC Hard training it might be worthwhile?

I'd play them all.....

FC Footylist? Time to commit if you are keen!

After many attempts and lots of talk we are moving forward with getting a team entered into the Swiss football league.

Latest update and what you need to do to sign up!

Have a read above and please sign up/get on board if you are interested.  Here is the history of how we've gotten to this point and the answers to lots of your questions:

Footylist 8 - 0 Citigroup

Monday 25th June, 2007 - by Lee

Yes, your eyes are not deceiving you. Even Colin scored - but the 21 other players and referee conspired to stop him getting a hat-trick.

Citi sported many changes since our last meeting which did bring the suggestion of "Ringers" (Rory!) and the fact that many of their players were half the age of ours, we imagined we would be in a spot of bother.

In a first half spoiled only by persistent rain and the inept referee, Colin managed to somehow bag two goals. Another was added before half-time - and during that pause, we did discuss how we could forsee an onslaught in the second half.

Citi changed formation to 1-5-4 in the second half (aka "All Out Attack") and for the initial period, it seemed that this approach might pay off - but alas, as they tired, they relied on their defender plus the referee (again) to keep chances to a minimum - so we only scored 5 more.

Notable mentions - Dave D: everywhere he went, the ball went the other way; Colin: two teams so happy to see you not get a hat-trick; Kev - nailing Peter when he was in goal (suppose it saved me doing it ); Brett - 'bout time you got two mates to play linesmen (); Rory - every thought you picked the wrong girlfriend?

List of scorers to come, despite me playing up front and Colin's excellent delivery, I'm not on it.

Thanks must go to Swisslinx who picked up the tab for the pitch cost. It was so expensive as we needed a wide one to cope with Colin's crosses.

UPDATE - Games this summer?

Wednesday 30th May, 2007 - by Jimmy Saville

No-one? Nothing? Oh well, leave it to us then.

Two things in the pipeline, more details to follow but here is a brief intro:

1) An association with a Swiss club, would mean some of our players would play for them on Sundays in a "real" league. Interested?

2) Thanks to Aash - "Gruempli" (all day, six a side) tournament in Basel on the 30th June, we need to apply by the 17th June. Interested?

"Game against your workmates? Fine. Six a side tourney? Bring it on. Inter-Toto Cup? Ave it!

Seriously though, it'd be nice to get some games going, I think we can safely say we can get 13 together on any weeknight or any day of any weekend.

If we can play on some shiny grass company pitches then all the better....

It's about time we sounded out how realistic it is to aim for a league next year."
